Testimonials
Hotel Bel-Air
“Dear John,
Your participation as Project Architect in the multi-phase renovation of the Hotel Bel-Air, allowed for our pre-construction concerns to be addressed and achieved. With site sensitivity and honed architectural skills, you enabled the renovation to be a smooth success, while guests occupied non-construction portions of the Hotel in comfort.
The finish materials selected for the interior, as well as, exterior complement the existing beauty of the Hotel Bel-Air. The renovation of the lobby, bar, dining room, terrace dining, suites, kitchen and exterior walks can only be considered aesthetic upgrades to the Hotel. Our guests compliment the new appearance.
In addition to the tangible, our Hotel enjoys new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, telephony, Internet and fire alarm systems. All of which were installed with detail and precision.
Thank you for a job well done.”
-Frank Bowling, General Manager and Vice President of Hotel Bel-Air
Mary Lind Recovery Centers
“Mary Lind Recovery Centers is currently undertaking a $1.7 million renovation project at its 135-bed Royal Palms Recovery Center, a former hotel built in 1926. $1.0 million of the project total is funded by the State Department of Housing through its Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP). John Egan’s firm was hired to develop architectural and other plans, prepare the bid specs, solicit bids, obtain all required permits, select the best possible contractor, and finally oversee a construction.
Each of these tasks was accomplished with a high degree of professionalism. EHAP is not the easiest funding agency to deal with, but John’s patience and guidance allowed us to finally get a signed contract with an excellent contractor and go-ahead to start the project. In addition, John’s oversight of the project and his firmness in dealing with certain consultants has resulted in considerable cost savings.
We are very pleased that we hired J.S. Egan Design, have continued to do so in subsequent project phases not funded by EHAP, and will hire the firm again should we have the opportunity.”
-Ed Woodhull, Executive Director of Mary Lind Recovery Centers
Project Angel Food
“I am pleased to recommend John and his firm.
This project involved a complete renovation of our 18,000 square foot building in Hollywood, California, and a large scale kitchen facility which occupies about 6,000 square feet on the lower level. John Egan participated in the site selection, planning, rendering of drawings, and construction management of the project.
I am pleased to say that the entire process went well, and the work was completed within our time frame and within our budget. The communication process with this firm was always forthright and accurate, and we worked carefully with them on all city and county permit issues.
The design element of the building has enhanced the work of the agency as well.”
-John L. Gile, Chief Executive Officer of Project Angel Food
The Continental Group, Inc
“Dear Lance,
Please allow this to serve as a letter of recommendation of you and your company.
We have worked together on three separate projects over the past several years relative to the expansion of our corporate offices in Hollywood. In all instances, you have been timely in the delivery of your plans and specifications. You have also provided valuable input and recommendations regarding the efficient and most economical use of office space. Finally, your continual monitoring of the work throughout the duration of the projects with the sub-contractors helped insure the timely and satisfactory completion.”
-Richard Strunin, President of The Continental Group, Inc.
S. Mark Taper Foundation Shelter Resource Bank
“Your architectural and construction management services on Shelter Partnership’s S. Mark Taper Foundation Shelter Resource Bank allowed for our initial concerns to be addressed and for the project to become a reality with its recent completion.
When we started our project, we had many concerns associated to the age of the existing structure (60 years), the size of the warehouse (108,000 square feet), and the related construction budget. With your team’s design excellence and advanced knowledge of construction, our project timeline was shortened, and our construction budget was significantly lower than originally estimated.
Your design took into consideration our programmatic needs, including those related to multiple private foundation grants. The new offices, entry and restrooms are vast improvement for our staff; while the cool roof, motion activated lighting, and increased storage capacity provides for lower operating costs and increased functionality.
Additionally, our building enjoys new communication, fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems. All of which were coordinated by your team with detail and precision.
The finish materials you selected for our project are durable, ‘green,’ and accent an inspiring design. Who would have thought the walls could be recycled paper, or the ceiling tiles produces from a renewable resource?
The renovation of the warehouse was a success thanks to the efforts of your team. Thank you for a job well done.”
-Ruth Schwartz, Executive Director of Shelter Partnership
