Shelter Partnership
Egan | Simon was the architect for this 1940’s warehouse renovation which included an onsite kitchen. Shelter Partnership, Inc. is a non-profit organization collaboratively solving homelessness in Los Angeles County. Since 1985, Shelter Partnership has continued to provide support to hundreds of agencies, free of charge.

Architectural Vision

We provided new ADA compliant entry steps and entry ramp system – involving multiple landings & directional changes, all new guardrail & handrail systems for ADA, passive travel lighting; reconstruction of existing warehouse offices w/ADA compliant doors, bathrooms, multiple accommodation toilet rooms for Men & Women, complete w/roll-in showers, stalls – redesigned bathrooms down to entry doors & door closers for ADA; upgrade to fire alarm system w/associated horns & strobes for ADA compliance; new signage for bathroom & door hardware. 

Impact

Since its inception, Shelter Partnership’s S. Mark Taper Foundation Shelter Resource Bank has secured more than $250 million in new donated goods for free distribution countywide. In 2018/19 $7.75 million in goods were distributed to 256 community agencies. Shelter Partnership also serves as a resource to public agencies, the business community, local and national media, and community members involved in the issues of homelessness and the creation of permanent supportive housing for individuals and families who are homeless.
