Casa Dominguez is the first multi-family housing development in Los Angeles to be awarded a LEED for Homes Platinum certification, the 6th in the state of California, and the 13th in the nation. It is also the first permanent affordable housing project to provide supportive services for young adults leaving the foster-care system in Los Angeles County.



Architectural Vision
A Family Development Center is also part of Casa Dominguez. This facility houses a child care program, a health clinic, and a parent resource center for residents and community members. Additionally, Casa Dominguez provides its residents with after-school programs, college preparatory courses and career counseling, computer training, and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.
Sustainability
Casa Dominguez features the first greywater irrigation system for multi-family housing in Los Angeles County and was a first-time approval for the LA County Health Department. Negotiations associated with the approval process spanned over a year, resulting in a very successful water conservation effort. It was also the first of its kind to feature a ground source heat pump system that involved drilling over 100ft to run the fluid condenser line which provides a reduction in electrical consumption community spaces throughout the building.

The 70-unit project contains a full range of sustainable features, including the addition of numerous environmental upgrades such as a solar energy system that provides 100% of the common area electricity and a ground-source heat pump system.
